Independence Square is almost two acres in size and is directly north of City Hall in downtown Maitland. It is the home of many of the primary events in the community including the Movie in the Park series and others hosted by the Park and Recreation Department. A strong argument could be made that Independence Square is situated on the most historical piece of property in Maitland
