The National Register of Historic Places has designated Freedom Playground as part of a historic site. It has a large play area, a paved walking/jogging route, and four pavilions that may be leased for parties and gatherings. It's also the only community-built playground in Deland. A Sensory Butterfly Garden, the refurbished Memorial Hospital Building, which contains the city's Parks and Recreation office, and the Burgess Building, which has various historical displays, all surround Freedom Playground.
